Our Service Policies

These service policies outline how North Star Dog Walking operates and set clear expectations for both clients and pets. By booking services with North Star Dog Walking, you agree to the following terms.

Requirements and Access

To help us provide the best possible service, we have a few requirements and guidelines regarding property access:

  • Equipment Requirements: Clients must provide a properly fitted collar or harness and a secure leash. Retractable leashes are not accepted unless approved in advance. North Star Dog Walking may decline service if equipment is unsafe or unsuitable.

  • Health, Behavior & Safety: Dogs must be reasonably manageable on leash. Any history of aggression, fear responses, or medical concerns must be disclosed. We reserve the right to refuse or discontinue service if a dog’s behavior presents a safety risk.

  • Yard Access & Home Entry: Clients are responsible for providing safe, secure access to yards and homes. Gates must be secure and yards free of hazards. North Star Dog Walking is not responsible for loose animals, faulty gates, or unsafe conditions beyond reasonable control.

  • Keys & Access Codes: Keys, lockboxes, or access codes are handled confidentially. Clients are responsible for informing us of any access changes. North Star Dog Walking is not responsible for missed or delayed visits due to access issues.

Ensuring Safety and Consistency

These policies are in place to ensure safety, clarity, and consistency for both clients and pets. By booking services with North Star Dog Walking, you agree to the following:

  • Service Area & Hours: Services are provided within Spruce Grove only and during daytime hours. No evening or overnight services are available.
  • Dog Handling & Walk Structure: Dogs are walked one-on-one, or two dogs from the same household. Dogs from different households are never combined. Walks are calm, controlled, and paced to the individual dog. Distance is not guaranteed; safety and well-being come first.
  • Weather & Temperature Policy: Walks may be shortened, modified, or replaced with yard let-outs during extreme cold, extreme heat, poor air quality, or severe weather conditions. Decisions are made with the dog’s safety as the priority.
